A decade ago, one snap decision brought me to where I am today

Whether you act or not isn't what matters, it's where it came from that is of greater importance...and that is all that really counts in the long run

I used to think that I had to have everything figured out before I took action.

I would contemplate, think, consider all the angles that I possibly could before trying anything.

The problem was that by the time I got around to it, it was either irrelevant, the opportunity had passed, or someone else had stepped up.

One day, I decided to just go with it without considering anything and just follow my heart and do what felt right. That was the first time I had just tossed caution to the wind and just went for it.

Of course I had rush hour traffic to contend with and nearly 45 minutes to reconsider, but I didn’t.

One decade later, and I have a wife, two crazy kids, two dogs, four cats, a mortgage, and an entirely different perspective on what it means to take action in the face of uncertainty.

And I would do it all over again.

When you’re by yourself, things tend to move very slowly if you choose for that to be the case.

When others depend on you, the pace is decidedly less and the urgency is much higher.

If you don’t do something soon enough, the consequences affect everyone around you.

As long as you know why you made the choice — as long as it was aligned with what you believe in and what you value — there are very few decisions in life that are permanent.

Your future is always worth fighting for.
