The Beginning of the End...?

The next stage of this journey begins

Change is in the air…

Sometimes, you need to know when to move to the next stage.

It’s different for everyone, but when you feel it, you feel it.

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile, and this week I decided to start the process.

I’ve planned out my content creation journey to be on a decade scale.

The real question is whether or not it’s time to say goodbye to this newsletter in its current form or not.

I’ll be making the decision at the end of this month.

Previously, on this platform…

I mentioned last week that this month’s challenge is to start building out a lead capture process in an effort to grow this newsletter.

The reason I haven’t actively promoted any of my work before was because I liked the obscurity.

Working in silence and safety is an important time, and it takes months, even years, to get to the point where things start to click.

Last month, things fell into place.

This newsletter has been the hub and the springboard from which I made the leap from short-form content on TwiX to long-form content on Medium.

Those were the first two years of this process.

2025 will be the year of Substack.

My only question now is whether or not I should port all of the issues I’ve written here (along with you) to that platform or keep it as a separate entity.

Choices, choices…decisions, decisions…

Why am I starting my Substack?

There are three reasons:

  1. Flexibility

  2. Potential

  3. Accessibility

Substack offers some key features that enable me to share my content in more ways than I have in the past…or at least it feels more accessible.

  • It has the Notes feature that is similar to TwiX.

  • It has the Posts feature that is similar to Medium.

  • It has the video and audio feature that is similar to YouTube.

The distribution of content doesn’t seem to be as draconian as it seems to have evolved on TwiX after Elon’s takeover.

Recent changes to Medium’s algorithm and expansion of the program to 77 more countries also will have an impact on their model.

Perhaps this is what growing pains look like for a content creator.

To be honest, I’ve felt a bit constrained in some aspects of my process, but it’s also because I haven’t really taken a break from doing this…ever.

In other words, I suspect that I’m a minor burnout stage at the moment, and I want to do something about it.

The next steps

I’ve already created my publication on Substack, and I’m aware that I can make more of them if I want.

I’m not interested in doing that, though (at least not now).

The real reason I’m over there is to start curating all the best work from across TwiX, Medium, and Beehiiv (and my vlogging) so that I have a more comprehensive area as a hub.

This was the first week of the challenge.

Next week, I’m going to update on the lead generation aspect of this process.

My goal is to have a way to grow without selling my soul.

Is that possible?

We’ll see.

Check out it out here if you’re interested!
