Yeah, I hate being sick.
Every year, I get knocked on my ass at least once or twice for nice bookends, and this year was no different. Whatever my wife caught last week, I got my turn on it (hence no weekly post from last week).
Seeing as that we’re up to four or five inches of snow here, I might as well share what’s going, and hopefully the power will hold up. If all this turns to solid, we’re going to be in for another week of interesting trouble.
Here’s what I’ve come across over the past couple of days:
BlueSky Bit - Just chillin (and it’s a good time for it)
Medium Moment - Never stop trying to get better at this learning thing
Substack Sampling - Once you’re in the public eye, this cannot be something that matters
Prismatic Progress:
There’s a lot to say about sleeping for nearly four days straight and being in and out of consciousness due to being sick.
You feel like shit. You can’t do much, and for a guy who basically is moving nonstop from dawn to dusk and then some, it’s like being squished into a suitcase and being left there in darkness.
It drove me up the wall. I didn’t want to sleep for even half the day, but there comes a point when your body takes the wheel and shoves your brain into the backseat, gives it some gummies and some juice and tells it to STFU.
That’s how four days went. I still got up to cook and do some laundry, but it didn’t take much before my body demanded more R&R.
Surprisingly, I didn’t lie there and wonder if I was going to be productive. I simply shut off like a computer does after you leave it alone for too long (provided the power settings are set for optimal functioning).
The nice thing about that was that my flagging sleep average is going to round out nicely to seven hours of sleep for the first month of 2026. So there’s that. Also, I’ve managed to write at least 250 words a day continuously for over two months now (all in Google docs). They’re all over the place, and eventually they’ll make their way here when I incubate them and make them palatable for public consumption.
For now, it’s time to get back in the saddle and keep moving forward. January is already over.
