I Made My Decision on This Platform

It's not what you think...(not quite)

The state of my mind and the content creation process

This month has been all about shifting perspectives and growth at breakneck speed…

It’s been a privilege to write to the 43 of you who have stuck with me (some of you since April of last year when I started).

Since then, I’ve seen countless others start their newsletters only to fade away within a matter of weeks or months.

If only they knew just how powerful this weekly ritual can make you.

I’m ending it, though.

I’ll be moving this weekly posting to Substack in September.

Here’s what it means for this newsletter…

The future of the Mind Mines

Next week will be the 75th issue of this newsletter.

According to Tim Denning, 99% of writers quit before 5 years is up.

I’m approaching the end of my second year being a writer.

Counting my YouTube experience, I’m approaching the end of my fifth year being a content creator.

I have a ten-year plan for this entire endeavor that I’ve outlined to myself and shared with you earlier this year, but here it is again:

Year 1: TwiX - learn short form, absolutely clueless

Year 2: Medium - learn long form, clueless about articles

Year 3: Substack - learn to hone my voice and punch my fear in the face (you are here)

Year 4: LinkedIn - promotional content and scaling my visibility

Year 5: YouTube - officially push out the ecosystem and offer my services from experiences in the past four years through video

Year 6: Digital distribution - refine skills and content across platforms and nurture the social media ecosystem

Year 7 - 10: Build the business - no clue how this is going to turn out

Notice that nowhere in this plan do I mention Beehiiv.

The reason for that is because this is my plan for content creation.

The truth is that Beehiiv is the foundational hub for everything because it’s my email collection hub.

Yes, Substack has that potential, and I’ve become interested in Substack because it has plenty of fun features to help me leverage the skills I’ve learned over the past five years.

Newsletters and email will always be important.

There are plenty of these out there, and eventually I will build a personal website that will be mine. They say blogging is dead, but I don’t buy that. I think it’s just been relegated to a different part of the internet for now.

I digress…the point is that Beehiiv is going to remain, but beyond this month, it’s going atomic.

I’m also going to be taking all the content that I’ve written here and moving it to Substack.

You’ll still get these from me, but they won’t be like this anymore.

Again, if you want to continue to get this type of content, feel free to sign up for my Substack.

What’s in store for the final issue next week?

It’s been a heck of a ride here, and it will continue.

Still…this change, like so many on this journey thus far, came without warning.

But it makes sense.

I want to talk about my thoughts on what’s what on this journey as I continue to explore entrepreneurship and content creation.

I hope you’ll stay to hear what I have to say.
