No Idea What I'm Doing But...
No time like the present
The three of you currently on this active newsletter are the first to be notified of my wider circle about this little idea that I’ve had since as far back as I can remember…
I have no idea how this will go or how long it will take, but this is a project that I’m launching with the hope of achieving something I’ve never had the nerve to pull off. As a person with a combination of skills and interests that range in niche and nerdiness, I wanted to help others who also traveled in these circles:
Engineers with an artistic flare
Creators passionate about their craft
People who are technical but also seek wider meaning
The Story So Far…
Since graduate school, I’ve watched the rise of blockchain and its various applications across crytocurrencies, NFTs, and cybersecurity.
The foundational idea of it is a powerful one.
With the rise of AI, quantum computing, and 6G communications just around the corner of the next decade, there are challenges there that I’m interested in discussing and sharing with others. I see a number of new industries that will mature in the near future that have potential, but I also see a huge gap appearing in what the public knows and understands.
There’s a lack of awareness that’s been fueled by a growing disdain towards experts, professionals, and knowledge general.
If there’s one thing that I’ve been told I have a knack for, it’s teaching others. Not just through communication via analogies and dad jokes, but also physically through martial arts and the way I carry myself. Ironically, I can’t quite articulate what it is that people like about how I go about it, but from my students to my colleagues to my friends and family, this sounds like it’s my forte.
So I figured that now’s a good point to apply it to something useful along with my curiosity.
The Idea
Content theft has been something that’s also on my mind for a long time.
I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how it’s not worth protecting your work or that it’s challenging to have a digital signature that indicates proof of origination. There are tons of ways to do it, but I haven’t seen anyone educate on it specifically for creatives. It’s probably because the learning curve seems ridiculously steep.
But is it really?
I’ve always believed that anyone can learn anything and that anyone can teach anything. The internet and social media and the rise of solopreneurship demonstrates this beyond a shadow of a doubt, but the dark side of it has also appeared. Scams, grifts, and good old-fashioned fraud is now easier than ever.
I want to see if there’s a way to apply blockchain to a creator’s body of work, not just from each piece, but as a timeline to demonstrate authenticity and ownership.
I’m starting from my own ground zero, but I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve as well. I’ll be sharing exactly how I learn from the beginning, injecting my own insights and thoughts as I go along. If you want to see how someone can teach themselves something from square one with the help of AI to go from noob to proficiency, then come along for the ride.
If this sounds interesting to you, here’s the Skool that I’ve opened for that purpose.
Moving Forward
This newsletter will continue to be about the digital heirloom and all the parts of the journey that come with it. After all, the process is why I’ve come this far. I know who I am and what I’m capable of because of the work that’s been done here. It’s the prerequisite of finding your strengths and accepting them that’s the point.
This is still my outlet for all things “Human 3.0” as Dan Koe has recently put it.
I’m gradually going to expand it all out a bit more because this is my content hub. It’s where all my ideas and explorations appear first, and all refinements and distributions will appear across Medium, Substack, and Skool eventually.
It’s more or less the crucible of everything I do. You are the ones to see everything first.
Thanks so much for having stuck it out this long with me.
