The Biggest Mistake People Make on Social Media

It's not your offer

You’d think that after three years that I’d know a thing or two from this journey.

I do, but not nearly as much as the people who actually put in the equivalent of three full-time years of effort.

I would say that I’m an advanced beginner at this point, and that’s stretching it a bit as well.

There’s still a lot that I haven’t directly experienced outside of execution and content creation.

I do have a handle on what I’m writing about and who I’m writing for, and that’s huge for me.

I hate to admit it, but doing this every night for year doesn’t equal financial success.

And that leads me to today’s prismatic principle…

super obvious and very annoying, but it’s one that gurus actually get right.

The Hamster Wheel We All Mistake for Progress

That’s right, while execution despite your emotional state is a powerful ability to cultivate, it’s not the silver bullet or the golden egg that people think or that they are entitled to once they master it.

While I’ve steadily increased my daily earnings over the past few years, it’s still less than the price of a cup of coffee (and that seems to be increasing).

BTW, when I say daily earnings, I mean every day of the year. I see making money in a slightly different way that takes the edge off (future article).

I posted every single day on TwiX, engaged with people whenever I could during the work day, wrote my weekly issue of my newsletter, and steadily created a huge library of content.

  • I had no focal point and no clarity.

  • I had no theme and no ideal client profile (ICP).

  • I had no idea what I was offering or whether people cared about my message.

But every single day I wrote, and every single interaction I had brought me a little closer to finding out the answers to these questions.

And yes, it has taken me years to get here, even with coaching, courses, and weekly meetings.

Why?

Because at the point where I’m at in life, you’ve gone through some things.

They say you need to have something you’re passionate about and that you are good at.

Not only that, but you need to have an unfair advantage that sets you apart.

We’ve all got those things, and the longer you’ve lived, the more options you have.

Having to “settle” for one thing and sticking to it just seems to be a waste.

Here’s the thing, though…

The truth is that all those things are just branches on the tree of your life.

The older you are, the more of them you have and the farther away the reach from the trunk.

In reality, they’re all success indicators, and it’s your task to reflect on them to trace back to the trunk…

You know, that thing that you seemed to just gravitate towards as a child.

The essence of what you’re passionate about is all concentrated there, and what you’re good at is just the result; the branches, twigs, and leaves that are most visible now.

And that’s the problem. The hamster wheel you hop on with all the excitement and passion to “make it” on the internet is just that…a hamster wheel.

You don’t actually get anywhere if you don’t bite the bullet and do the hard work of understanding what makes you special (just like everyone else, right?)

Unfortunately, it’s a self-motivated journey.

You can talk to every guru out there and take every course and webinar and mastermind, but until you personally take action on what they all tell you (and they all tell you the same thing because it’s true!)

That’s the 5th prismatic principle…

Clarity of Purpose, Thought, and Expression is Essential.

The Prismatic Professional

Yeah, Yeah…

Still here? Ok.

As Kieran Drew teaches in his Magnetic Emails course*, you want your audience to react and resonate with a “Hell, yeah!”, not “Yeah, yeah…”

If I’m honest, most of my content tends towards the latter, but quantity eventually yields quality because even a blind squirrel gets a nut every now and then!

But to that end, my answers to my questions are all here finally.

You’re (hopefully) the person that I meant to attract to what I’m offering which is an approach to critical thinking that takes into account your values and beliefs, not to mention a way to improve your health.

You can’t think clearly if you physically aren’t in a good spot.

So stick around…I’ve got a few things to share, and I’m still in one piece so far!

P. S.

Yes, that’s an affiliate link to Kieran’s course. I’m on the path to improving my writing skills, and I’ve found his knowledge to be relatable and invaluable.

You’ll periodically see me sprinkle in these things (and if you’ve been here long enough then you know this already).
