Time for BTS mania and this month's challenge
I meant Back-to-school (sorry to get your hopes up)
It’s time to take the next step…
I’m not sure about what to say on some days when it’s Saturday night at 11:30 PM.
My family is asleep.
I have the Lofi beats going (or whatever else that gets the juices flowing).
I have a big, blank screen and a head full of ideas and inspirational thoughts that I want to share.
It’s August now…back-to-school season has begun.
It’s also mine as well, and I’d like to share a personal breakthrough with you.
Taking stock
If you’re a long-time subscriber, then I want to thank you again for being here over the past year or so…
IRL, I’m a test engineer for a global circuit component manufacturing company…
a father to two boys (2 and 6)…
and a content creator/avid gamer.
I didn’t seriously start doing this whole crazy process until I returned to the US in 2019, but I took a few hours each night to work on it.
It all adds up…
Here are the results:
>130 articles on Medium
>200 long form videos on YouTube
>70 newsletter issues here on Beehiiv
>22k posts (both writing and video) on X
>100 calls and weekly Meet/Zoom sessions
It’s because of all this content that I’ve come to learn so much about how to write, create video, and get in touch with myself.
It’s what mind mining is all about.
This newsletter is the central hub of all of it.
The funny part is that I’ve never actively promoted it all that much on X or Medium because I’ve never been sure if you actually found any of this useful.
The greatest realization thus far…
I’ve been overthinking it.
One of the biggest things I ignored was investing in mentoring and coaching directly.
That’s the change I’m implementing for the rest of the year.
The reason it took so long for me to take this step is a bit embarrassing…
Every dollar I spent here felt like theft from my family.
I was taught from a young age that sacrifice was the hallmark of a caretaker.
While this is true, it’s not wise AT ALL to make it the feature you focus on.
I have furniture as old as I am.
I have clothing that’s old enough to drink.
I freak out when I see any price tag above “FREE”.
Macklemore would have loved to go shopping with me.
It wasn’t until these past two months while writing the “7 Writing Sins” series that all the content started falling into place.
In other words, I found the primary vein of gems in my mine…
The next challenge
I’m a 9-5/parent/creator who has produced a shitload of content with the system that I developed for myself.
I thought that what I produced was what people in my position would be interested in.
As it turns out, it’s the process that is valuable.
Without it, I wouldn’t have tapped into my innermost abilities and discovered my strengths.
That’s what I can offer to you…the meta aspect of the mind mining.
It’s my main project this month.
Let me know if this is of interest to you as I’m going to share my progress every week moving forward.
