What I feel like, a reframe in writing, not every platform works for you
Each Mother's Day weekend reminds me of this fact of life

I’ve been in a bit of a lull this past week.
Dad’s 71st birthday is the same day or within a day or two of Mother’s Day so it’s been a bit of a hectic week figuring out what to do for both (no fair just using one as an excuse to not do the other). As the years have gone by, and I watch the number go up for him, I’m reminded that life is short and that you never know when your time is up.
I think that’s why I get a little more anxious with each one.
You can feel the mortality of your life around the edges as you cruise up to middle age. Your kids and your parents get older, one side enjoying the golden rays of the sunset as it stretches out towards the horizon while the other side stretches its rays of sunrise towards the clouds in the sky. It’s like you’re the ground beneath both trying to take in as much light from both, appreciating the fact that you are getting to do so.
Here’s what I’ve dug up this week:
BlueSky Bit - How this week felt in one image
Medium Moment - Who are you writing for? Read this for guidance.
Substack Sampling - You are not obligated to sell your soul for the promise from any platform
Prismatic Progress:
I’ve been having some rough walks lately…
Not the walks themselves. To clarify, I take time out of most days at work to walk around the quarter-mile path in front of the canvas. It’s hell during the winter and summer as there aren’t many trees covering a large portion of it and the extreme temperatures are relentless. During the Fall and transition periods of Spring, I can push for a mile without feeling too uncomfortable.
I can record my thoughts by video as I walk, and I’ve been doing this almost daily for two years now.
You can imagine the number of videos backed up on my Google Photos archive. They’re full of little tidbits of inspiration, captures of moments in life. This week snagged me in the midst of talking myself out of a few negative emotional slumps…mainly around what I’m doing here as a writer and content creator. I know the truth about my path and its emotional challenges. There’s a huge difference when it comes to feeling them.
On that note, I’d recommend this video interview between Jay Clouse and the man behind the curtain.
I’m starting my 33-day challenge of the 1% Writer course from one of my guides, Kieran Drew this week. Wish me luck!
